The museum contains all the life, history and culture of Sosnovka district. The museum exposition is located in three halls. The first hall demonstrates the flaura and fauna of the district with the help of wide-screen images, models of fruit, berries, stuffed birds and animals, wood cuts and labels. The district map with the historical information about it takes the central place of the exposition.
The section devoted to the years of the Great Patriotic War is the most detailed. Here one can see the photos and prize papers of fifteen Heroes of the Soviet Union, four full Commanders of the Order of Glory. The papers proving the feats of arms of the local people as well as their letters, decorations and military uniforms.
The third hall houses the presents given to the museum. It’s a collection of minerals granted by the Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, B.N. Erofeyev. E.L. Krinov, a Doctor of Geological and Mineralogical Sciences, sent the fragments of the Sikhote-Alin meteorite, a smoky rock crystal, pieces of Orsk jasper, beryl, the author’s books, photographs etc. G.S. Ilyin, a Doctor of Biological Sciences, was a prominent connoisseur of art. He owned several collections of paintings and books on art. When he found out about the opening of the museum, he sent a collection of the works painted by the Laureates of the Lenin prize, outstanding painters, S.V. Gerasimov and V.D. Ezdakov.
