Pervomaysky district is located in the North-West of Tambov region. Its administrative center is Pervomaysky work settlement. A number of historic events and its geographical location had an impact on the development of Pervomaysky settlement.
Mass population of this territory started in the middle of the 17th century when the Golden Horde was completely defeated. The settlement grew more actively after the construction of Kozlov fortress in 1635. Another stage in the district development was the construction of Ryazan-Kozlov railroad in 1866. That’s when Bogoyavlensk station was arranged.
At present, the main tourist attractions of the district are St. Michael the Archangel Church in Staroseslavino and Church of St. Demetrius of Thessaloniki.
