The amusement park is located in the very center of Tambov between Sovetskaya Street and the canal of the Tsna River. The park is full of all sorts of amusements, places to have fun at, a dance floor, open-air summer stages, a Ferris wheel etc. The pedestrian suspension bridge will take you from the park to the other bank of the Tsna river. The public amusement park is more than 180 years old. Under the governor P.Paskevich’s initiative, it was decided to establish the public garden in the 30s of the 19th century. The north-western part of the modern park in the 19th century was Tambov central square called Platsparadnaya (later Dvortsovaya). All festive events used to take place in the square. The green belt was planted in Dvortsovaya Square in the second half of the 19th century. This is how the public garden appeared. Another garden, the Garden of the Merchant House, was arranged next to the Art Gallery at the beginning of the 20th century. Here one could enjoy various amusements – the brass band played in the wooden pavilion, the summer theatre staged performances, the refreshment bar was available and people had a chance to play bowling in the special area. There was a fountain surrounded by flower-beds in the center of the garden. In winter the merchant garden had a skating rink. Evening fireworks were organized during festivals and royal days. After the revolution both gardens were rearranged and during the post-war years they were united into one City Park.
