The Chicherins’ Pokrovskoye estate

The building of the Chicherins’s Pokrovskoye estate and park of 20 hectares is located in Petrovsky district of Tambov region in Pokrovo-Chicherino village. The estate and park are historical and natural monuments of municipal significance. 

Pokrovskoye estate was one of the richest manorial estates of Tambov province. In pre-revolutionary times it included more than 1200 hectares of cultivated agricultural lands, large cattle farms, poultry yards. Near the house there was a symmetrically designed park of rectangular shape.       

The first owner of Pokrovskoye estate from the Chicherins was Vasily Chicherin, the father of the famous Soviet diplomat Georgy Chicherin and the brother of the prominent Russian public figure and scientist Boris Chicherin. 

The red brick manor house that now serves as a secondary school building, as well as the park have lived up to our times. The school orhanized a museum in honor of the prominent descendants of Chicherin family. The exposition of the museum displays some of the objects that used to belong to the former landlords.
